Coventry favourite Andy halder with his championship belt just after his convincing win over Shrewsbury's Roddy Doran, Andy was back to his best last night and gave Doran a boxing lesson Doran knew his only chance of a win last night was to knock Andy out and this never looked like happening.  This win should put Andy up in the top ten middle-weights in the UK two or three more bouts against good class opposition and Andy will be ready to go for a few more titles great win andy.
Doran stayed on his stool and never came out for the eigth round.

Report in the Shropshire Star

Shropshire boxer Roddy Doran brought an end to his boxing career after failing to dethrone WBF Intercontinental middleweight champion Andy Halder in Coventry on Saturday night.
Shrewsbury-based Doran retired on his stool after seven rounds before violence broke out among rival supporters.Security officers restored order after five minutes but the trouble capped a miserable night for Doran,He announced  his retirement after suffering his fourth
straight defeat.Referee Terry O'Connor had him trailing 69-65 when he decided to pull out of the fight with three rounds remaining after suffering damage to his eardrum.

Carl Wright one of  Coventry's favourite adopted Sons from Rugby proved once again what an exciting fighter he is when he demolished Nathan (Tate ) Joseph in the first round to win the vacant  British Masters Title, Carl proved his worth last night to go into the top 10 of UK Cruiser-Weights, Carl needs to fight boxers like Lee Swaby Gary Delaney or John Keaton to get himself rated in the top seven or eight placings. Carl certainly seems to have sorted himself out and a hard punching no nonsense Carl can go on to win more Titles.

Stevie Bendall Saturday night boxed in front of his home fans for the first time in three years and what a roar he had when he entered the ring none more louder than Stevie's brother Stuart, Stevie always has a huge following where ever he goes saturday night he won his 22nd fight out of 23 bouts against the 25 year old  Ismael Kerzazi from France Ismael was certainly the dark horse of the night and he proved to be a very spirited and willing fighter with a record of Won 7 (KOs 3)  Lost 5  Drawn 0  Total 12, I know Steve would never under estimate an opponent but in all honesty I did he went the distance with Steve but lost on points, I know Stevie very well when he gets a close decision he always worries about it, nothing to worry about this one Steve good win against a good young opponent who I am sure we will hear a lot more about.

SIMMO SIMMO the usual chant when Coventry's Number One son Neil Simpson enters the ring Saturday night he was in against big Paul Bonson the 33 year old from Castleford and both lads put on a good scrap for the fans Neil was back to his best putting three and four punch combinations together and he looked good going forward and also off the back foot Neil looked as trim and fit as he did 10 years ago. Another good win on your come back Neil your fans hope to see you in the ring many more times.

Joe McCluskey the Coventry welter-weight who fights out of  the Owen Delargy camp went in against the experienced Carl Allen saturday night at the Skydome and although this was the first time I had seen Joe in action I was very impressed, he certainly proved he can step up a class in only his fourth bout three wins and one draw  is certainly a good start to his career

Neil Tidman made his Pro debut Saturday night at the Coventry Skydome after a brilliant amateur career,  against our old friend Leeroy Williamson the 31 year old Light Middle-weight who boxes out of Worcester this was a good solid test for Neil as Leeroy is a good honest boxer who will fight any one any where but Neil was to classy for him with some nice solid jabs and good combination punching good win Neil.

Richard Mazurek the third of Owen's lads on the show was born and lives in Leamington and made his Pro debut 18 months ago  his record is WON 5  (2 ko's)  |  L 1  |  D 1  |  Total 7  his opponent at the last minute was the much travelled
Ernie (Gypsy boy ) Smith  this lad turned out to be a much harder opponent for Richard the 27 year old smith who started boxing Pro six and a half years ago has had 97  bouts although he has only won eleven and drawn four Smith was a wily character and just a bit to experienced for Richard. Do not be to disappointed at your first loss Richard as you showed you are a good hardy lad who can only learn by this defeat.
